The perfect push-up is a piece of equipment which any gym could have and a piece of equipment which any gym could live without.
It is definitely easier on the wrists than push-ups on the floor but it really does little to superiorly work your chest during push-ups.
Remember to keep your core tight and don’t let your hips sag towards the floor.
The correct way to perform is to externally rotate your palms as you lower your chest towards the floor.
To get the full benefit out of push-ups perform through full range of motion without snapping your elbows at the top.
If you want the perfect push-up you can get it here

Video clip showing proper form of the incline dumbbell fly exercise for pecs. Fly type exercises have done far more for my pec development than the pushing type exercises. In doing flys, make sure that your arms do NOT go behind the plane of your body as this puts too much stress on the shoulder joint. Normally with flys, the arms are kept perpendicular to the body but in this variant I pretend I am doing cables from the lower pulley so I start with my hands pointing down to the ground and finish with them over the top of my head. This exercise is tough so use light weights and make sure to use slow, controlled form.
As with any dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don’t use too much weight, if you can’t do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud “one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand” on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise.
Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

Video clip showing proper form of the dumbbell fly exercise for pecs. Most people focus on bench press for chest but I have found that for me the fly movements have provided the most muscle growth. This is a great home exercise! Here I am doing it on a bench but I actually prefer to do it flat on the floor to limit my range of motion and protect the shoulders. Using a bench you should have a spotter but on the floor you can easily work out alone.

Push ups are the classic resistance training exercise with your own body weight. You know that.
The biggest mistake people make while performing pushups is to not start with their chest on the floor.
If you start with your chest on the floor you will develop the proper range of motion.
If you don’t lower yourself all the way to the floor at first, it will be very difficult for your to develop functional strength.
Keys:
1. Keep spine in neutral alignment, this includes your head.
2. Keep Core Tight, same as spine in neutral alignment but focus on drawing in your belly button.
3. Lower your chest all the way to the floor.
4. Keep your shoulder blades retracted.
5. Do not lock out and snap your arms at the top.
If your goal is to build your chest, you can do many more effective exercises for the pecs.
If your goal is to build functional strength, you must master the push-up through full range of motion before you can expect to reach your full potential.
Always perform weight training exercises within your envelope of function.
If it hurts, Don’t Do it.
If you have protracted shoulder girdle, push-ups are not a good exercise to do, especially if you do them wrong.

- chest workout. Hello again, Reuben Bajada here, today I am going to demonstrate another of my favourite programs, this time it’s my ‘chest workout’. Always remember that the pectorials are a large muscle capable of performing under a heavy workload, and when assisted by the deltoids (shoulders) can perform even more effectively.
Targeting the pectorial region from different angles and at different stages of muscular fatigue, are key to building a well developed, prominent chest. This workout transfers the science of building muscle into a more practical form, combining 3 commonly used exercises and forcing them to work in partnership for a common goal; muscular hypertrophy (growth of muscle cells).
Some techniques include;
- Shifting center of gravity
- Wrist Stabilization
- Pre Exhausting of certain body parts
Anybody can experience the benefits of gaining muscle, and it doesn’t take 2-3 hours in a gym like some people may think. At the end of the day your body is a system put together to perform many complex tasks, if it’s treated correctly from the inside out and given the appropriate duties to work with, it will respond with amazing gains especially during weight training.
As per normal, this workout is proven and tested on both myself and my clients. It is original and best of all leaves your chest with no option but to grow!

I love sqeezing exercises for chest as most of my results in chest mass and strength have come from this type exercise. I have covered the basic dumbbell fly in a previous video and here I have a cool variant that you do on an incline bench (or a board leaning against a wall). For this incline fly use a light weight, approximately 20% of what you use for incline dumbbell press. In this exercise we keep the arms straight but not locked and the arms are not perpendicular to our sides like in a normal fly, are not alongside our legs, but halfway inbetween. The palms are facing up at a 45 degree angle.

How do you get a massive chest? Most bodybuilders say “do lots of heavy bench press” – I disagree. There are two types of chest exercises, pushing exercisees (like bench press and pushups) and squeezing exercises (like pec deck and dumbbell flys). You need to do both to maximize your chest development. For me personally, the squeezing chest exercises have given me much better mass and strength gains than the pushing type exerciess.
The king of the squeezing exercises is the dumbbell fly and its easy to do at home with just a used set of dumbbells. Heres how you do it.:
lay on floor
together)
knees up, abs flexed (lower back support)
shoulder back, shoulder blades together
arms perpendicular to sides
elbows slightly bent
go sloooooly up and slooooowly down
flex you chest at top of rep
Warning straight armed is much more difficlut than elbows bent because of leverage. Decrease your weight till you can do these with your arms almost straight. Many times you will see people doing WAY more than they should and they do them like this (demo). No, use less weight. Why? Because then you can spot yourself. At about rep 6 when you cant do another straight armed one, bend your elbows slightly. This increases your leverage and makes it easier on your pecs, now you can do 2 or 3 more. When you cant do any more reps, bend your elbows a bit more. This way, you can do forced reps safely.
The reason I do this on the floor is for safety, please see this video for more info:

This video is in preparartion for my advanced killer chest workout video where dumbbell flys will have a prominent role.
